Did you know that a cordless phone is not useful during a power outage?
When the power to the base is no longer there it renders the reciever useless. Keep at least one mounted phone in your home so if in the event of a power outage you can still call out.
During a tornado, if you are in a building go to the basement or if there isn't one crouch or lie flat under heavy funiture in an inner hallway or small inner room or stairwell away from windows. If you are outside during a severe lightening storm seek shelter in a building, cave or depressed area. If your caught in the open crouch down with your feet close together and your head down. Don't  lay flat - minimize your contact with the ground.
Mould can lead to serious health problems. If mould is present, wear a face mask and disposable gloves. To minimize mould growth, move items to a cool, dry area within 48 hours and set up fans. Alternatively, textiles, furs, paper and books can be frozen. Wet mould will smear if wiped. Let it dry and then brush it off outdoors. Materials not affected by alcohol can be lightly misted with isopropanol (rubbing alcohol) to kill mould spores.
